Celebrating Creative Excellence: Kate Hodgson Leads Halley House to Artsmark Silver!
We are absolutely thrilled to share some fantastic news from our local community! Kate Hodgson, our very own founder and lead educator at Hackney Children’s Art School, has successfully led Halley House School to achieve the prestigious Artsmark Silver Award.
This award, accredited by Arts Council England, is a massive testament to the hard work, vision, and passion for the arts that Kate brings to every project she touches.
A Journey of Creativity and Inclusion
The Artsmark journey is no small feat. It requires a school to prove that the arts are central to its culture, used not just as a subject, but as a tool to remove barriers and increase opportunities for every child.
Under Kate’s guidance as the Art Educator, Halley House has:
Built Cultural Capital: Using diverse contextual sources to ensure pupils see themselves reflected in the art they study.
Strengthened Partnerships: Collaborating with prestigious institutions like the Goldsmiths Centre and the Royal Academy to give students a platform for their work.
Empowered Young Artists: Introducing the Arts Award to deliver tangible, celebrated outcomes for pupils.
What’s Next?
The feedback from the Arts Council was glowing, highlighting the school's "joined-up, cohesive approach" and strong "Values and Ethos." But the journey doesn't stop at Silver. Kate is already looking toward the Gold Award, with plans to further amplify student voice and integrate digital media into the curriculum.
At Hackney Children’s Art School, we believe that every child should have access to high-quality arts education that inspires and uplifts. Seeing Kate’s impact at Halley House is a perfect example of that mission in action.
Huge congratulations to Kate and the entire Halley House community!
