Design for Growth - new book title

I last committed to write blog when I started Hackney Children’s Art School in 2011. My children’s school had an unused art room, as a business person in the creative industries this seemed like the biggest missed opportunity in a state funded building - with so much need in the community.

I ran once a week art class for my own children and their friends and blogged about this and emailed the head teacher. She then gave me my start in teaching. I child centred approach to teacher training. I am with the Princess of Wales on this - and the science. Children’s care is not a minus on the balance sheet but the biggest and most vital investment we make as parents, as families and as communities. So train alongside your children in the arts that are so vital for good brain devopment. You gain children who have the care they need and you have a parnet building skills and qualifcations - along side them.

Writing that blog gained me my break in a new career. Now after a PGC and an MA - I am wring a book. Nowadays you can self publish and I did a business training where is said if your good at what you do - you should have 7 hours of content for the public to read and watch. This means when you do gain a client - they know they want to work with you because they have had the chance to see your work fully. They call them assets, your book, u tube channel, social meida. So a book is a business asset.

Children’s art studios are life changing seeds at the start of our children lives and I am after 15 years intense work - and the needs becoming greater and sadly the noise blocking the understanding of why children need these spaces - is still overwhelming - the only way to explain is with one key text. I can repeat and repeat but its falls in the cracks because I do not have that 7 hours of content - I do not have the correct asset. A book is an asset so I will blog again each week about the progress of the book - step by step explaining why Children’s Art Studio are life saving and life changing.
